Abstract Flowers

Many flowers have portions which if isolated create interesting abstract images. In order to isolate these portions it is necessary to get very close closeups of these flowers and I have several ways to do this.  Several of these techniques (extension rings and bellows) involve moving the lens farther from the film plane (i.e. sensor plane for digital cameras). An other technique I use is to employ an adapter-lens-ring to allow the lens assembly to be reversed or attached to the camera backwards. This allows even closer focusing of the subjects. Finally, I also have a high resolution scanner (up to 12,8000 pixels per inch). If the subject is relatively flat the scanner can produce images that have been greatly magnified allowing useful sections to be selected.  I have been working a lot with these techniques recently and this gallery displays a sample of these images.
